Hendrick’s gin, Aperol liqueur, orange, pineapple and fresh-squeezed lime combine to create this slightly sweet crown jewel of a cocktail.
“The golden leaf is a sophisticated,
well-balanced gin martini with a subtle hint of mandarin orange,” Mandarin Bar manager Melody Sheppard says.
Mandarin Bar serves the cocktail with a shimmering crown of gold dust garnish, but the following is a simplified version to enjoy at home:
- 1½ ounces Hendrick’s gin
- ¼ ounce Aperol orange liqueur
- 3 clementine or mandarin orange segments
- ¼ ounce (1 small chunk) pineapple
- ½ ounce fresh lime juice
- ½ ounce simple syrup (1:1 water and sugar)
Combine orange and pineapple in a martini shaker and muddle gently. Add remaining ingredients and shake well.
Strain and serve, up, in a chilled martini glass.
