Dust Off That MySpace Account

MySpace Comedy Secret Stand-Up brings ‘Chuy and the Comedians of Chelsea Lately’ to the Palms

“Being associated with Chelsea Handler is a good thing for any comic,” says observational humorist John Caparulo, who has been a regular guest on E!’s hit TV show Chelsea Lately for more than a year. Four comics—Chris Franjola, Jenn Kirkman, Brad Wollack and Sarah Colonna—wouldn’t argue with Caparulo.

Each of them is a regular on Chelsea Lately, where they goof on pop culture and crack wise about whatever subject Handler explores. The comedians have such an association with the provocative host that they have embarked on the “Chuy and the Comedians of Chelsea Lately” tour, which stops at the Palms for a surprise show as part of MySpace Secret Stand-Up.

And now a little about these comics …

Franjola is a brash New York native who is quirky, observational and irreverent in a manner that recalls Handler’s no-holds-barred style. The clever Kirkman—who has been on the stand-up trail for a decade and has performed for Comedy Central and the Cartoon Network—is touring behind Self Help, her first comedy album. A cerebral and unpredictable stand-up comic, Wollack, writes for Chelsea Lately, MTV’s The New Tom Green Show, Parental Control and Style’s Foody Call. He doesn’t seem to care what audiences think of his material, which gives him a leg up on many of his peers begging for approval.

Show Information

“Chuy and the Comedians of Chelsea Lately” appear at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Palms. Free, first-come first-serve with a copy of your MySpace profile. 942-7777.

But topping the MySpace show is the diminutive Chuy Bravo. The Chelsea Lately phenomenon will be hawking his book, Little Nuggets of Wisdom (Grand Central Publishing, 2010), which offers life advice as well as his autobiography. Bravo hit television pay dirt after appearing in Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End. The little man has a pleasant demeanor and occasionally utters something that’s flat-out hilarious, which is what the MySpace tour is all about.
