Dean Snyder

The William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration has named an interim dean: former Boyd Gaming president Donald D. Snyder.

Snyder takes over on July 1 for dean Stuart Mann, who is retiring after 12 years of service.

As Snyder assumes his post, he brings considerable experience with him. The incoming interim dean previously served as chairman of the board and CEO at First Interstate Bank of Nevada (1987-1991), president of Boyd Gaming (1996-2005) and CEO of the Fremont Street Experience (1996-2006). In addition, Snyder is past chairman of the Nathan Adelson Hospice, Council for a Better Nevada and United Way of Southern Nevada.

He currently serves as the voluntary chairman of the board for the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and sits on the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees, where he has helped raise more than $500 million for the university.

Snyder obtained a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Wyoming and completed graduate studies in credit and financial management at Stanford. He also received an honorary doctor of law degree from UNLV in 2001.

Just a couple of weeks ago, KFC unveiled “Buckets for the Cure,” giving its famous red a rest in a show of support.
