Be a Wheel Watcher

Pat Sajak, Vanna White and the entire Wheel of Fortune crew won’t roll into town until July, but you should act now if you want to catch the action.

The deadline for tickets to see tapings of the show at the Venetian is June 25. For a chance to be part of the audience, complete a ticket request form, then mail it in, old-school USPS-style (with a stamped, self-addressed envelope, no less), and cross your fingers.

The No. 1 rated syndicated TV show will record six weeks of episodes during a six-day production schedule next month, set for July 13, 14, 16, 17, 19 and 20. The first five episodes will be used to open the 28th season of the program on Sept. 14, which will air locally on KVBC Channel 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The game show’s famed 39-foot Winnebago, the Wheelmobile, rolled through Las Vegas looking for contestants last month. More than 3,000 people auditioned for a chance to spin the big wheel during two days of tryouts at the Venetian.

More than a million people auditioned to be on Wheel of Fortune last year, but fewer than 600 of them made it.

Although the league’s executives and advertisers were deprived once again of a LeBron-Kobe matchup, they got the next best thing.
