Attention, winos: You have two wine events from which to choose on Nov. 6: The fifth annual HenderZIN wine festival and the eighth annual Lee’s Wine Experience.
The former is presented by Khoury’s Fine Wine and Spirits, 5-8 p.m., 9915 S. Eastern Ave., and involves more than 50 wines, plus notable winemakers Victor Abascal (Vines on the Marycrest), Jim Norman (Norman Wines) and a special, surprise guest from Paso Robles, Calif.-based Opolo Winery.
Additions to this year’s tasting include Joel Gott, Plungerhead and Brassfield.
“Some of the highlights will be Turley, Opolo, Tobin James, Rombauer, Montevina, Norman and Orin Swift,” owner and organizer Issa Khoury says.
While the focus is on red wines and, as the name suggests, zinfandels take center stage, “A couple breweries are going to be there, too,” Khoury says, including Backyard Brewing and Joseph James.
Meanwhile, classic rocker Skip Eatan entertains and Holy Smoke Barbecue whets appetites and provides a full meal. Admission is $50 in advance—that’s $1 per wine—or $47 via localwineevents.com, or $60 at the door, and includes a Riedel wine glass to keep.
The latter is a larger, longer wine wonderland, with more than 1,000 bottles on offer and tastings spanning five hours, from 3-8 p.m. Lee’s Wine Experience takes place at the Las Vegas Hilton, and includes live and silent auctions in support of the liquor store’s namesake nonprofit organization, Lee’s Helping Hand. Tickets, available at any Lee’s Discount Liquor store, are $40 in advance or $50 at the door.
