All Cirque, All Week

If you’ve always wanted to immerse yourself in Cirque, but didn’t quite know how to go about doing it, circle the week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 5 on your calendar. The dates mark the debut of Cirque Week, seven days of shows and behind-the-scenes events all wrapped up in a single package.

It starts at 11 a.m. Nov. 29 with a welcome reception featuring Criss Angel from Believe, and continues with special events including a demonstration of the technical wizardry of The Beatles Love Theatre at The Mirage, a behind the scenes look at Zumanity, a Viva Elvis Unplugged musical performance and Q&A session, a look at what it takes to stay in shape for O, a Mystère drum demonstration and costume Q&A.

Cirque Week packages start at $160, which gets you into two shows and all the special events, and rise to $445 for seven shows and all the specials.

Patricia Mulroy

By Sean DeFrank

Patricia Mulroy has been entrusted to do an almost impossible task—make it rain in the desert. Metaphorically, at least. Her job as general manager of the Southern Nevada Water Authority puts her in the position of balancing the resource of shrinking Lake Mead with the needs of a growing region. As a 35-year resident of Las Vegas, Mulroy has become intimately acquainted with the Valley’s water situation. She became the general manager of the Las Vegas Valley Water District in 1989 and gained a reputation of being Southern Nevada’s water warrior.
