They may be sliding down a fire pole instead of a chimney, but the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation will be giving Santa a helping hand this holiday season via their ninth Fill the Fire Truck Toy Drive. A nonprofit organization comprised of members from every fire station in Clark County, the firefighters will be collecting new, unwrapped toys and gift cards at select Wal-Mart locations, 4 a.m. to noon Saturdays and Sundays until Dec. 19.
It shouldn’t be hard to spot where to drop off the toys, as fire stations will have their giant toys-come-to-life trucks on-site for an up-close inspection.
Last season, the firefighters gathered enough toys to give to 20,000 low-income families. With many families still struggling, Valley firefighters hope to exceed last year’s number, giving 24,000 families a Christmas morning they won’t forget.
