M is for My Valentine

Let the ultimate expression of winemaker Michael Mondavi’s passion guide your own expression of love this Valentine’s Day. Wine, dine and take your luvah to new heights with M by Michael Mondavi, a 100 percent cabernet sauvignon from atop Atlas Peak in Foss Valley, Napa, Calif. Well above the San Francisco fog, the elevated Animo vineyard basks in direct sunlight but also experiences dramatic temperature swings that are said to imbue M with a balanced acidity. Young, dark and intense, M offers concentrated fruit, excellent structure, sculptured tannins, notes of licorice and burning embers, and a lingering finish. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gave it 93 points, which, if you’re a believer, means stock up, buttercup; 2007 is nearing release. Cellar for 2-3 years or enjoy right now—if you like ’em young.
