Introduced in Clark County in 1994 in the hopes of boosting voter turnout, early voting has proven popular with Southern Nevada voters. In primary elections since 2002, an average of 47 percent of voters have opted to vote early. Convenience has been a major attraction, although the percentage of eligible voters who turn out for the primaries has not increased significantly.
