Celebrating 12 years of giving back, the A Flair for Care fashion show and luncheon, sponsored by Neiman Marcus to benefit the nonprofit Nathan Adelson Hospice, welcomed Michael Kors to its esteemed runway on April 8. Previous years have featured Roberto Cavalli and Oscar de la Renta, among others.
The spacious venue, inside the Lafite Ballroom at the Wynn, was a gathering of the city’s charitable leading ladies. The morning began with a reception of mimosas and small bites, while the guests browsed raffle items such as designer handbags, jewelry and shoes. The fashion show followed, featuring Kors’ glamorous and chic fall collection.
Catering to the modern woman, the collection offers professional day-wear and breathtaking evening-wear, both elegantly dramatic yet predominantly sexy. Solid colors such as chocolate, gray, deep plum, nude, black, mauve and cream, with the exception of a few pop-out reds, ruled the catwalk. Fresh-faced models wore silver chokers and cuffs, over-the-knee boots and platform heels.
Plunging V-neck tops accompanied one-piece pantsuits—some body-hugging and others cloaked in matching oversize dresses—as well as high-waisted, tailored trousers, all staples on the runway. Skirts and dresses showed leg with thigh-high side slits while arms kept warm with fur and mohair vests and coats, ranging in length from waist to below the knee. As Kors is known for re-creating to-die-for looks that echo the ’70s, the collection wouldn’t have been complete without beaded pieces: tops, dresses and a disco-inspired, loose pantsuit. Keep your eyes peeled for the stunning items as they hit stores later this fall, as they are a perfect fit for any night out in Vegas.
