Carla and Alex Taylor and family

She’s a designer, owner of Lola and George; he’s operating partner of Due Forni; both age 36. Their children are David, 7, and Noel, 4.

Style icons: Diane Keaton, Zooey Deschanel and Ali MacGraw (Carla); Harrison Ford (Alex).

What they are wearing now: vintage shirt, 7 For All Mankind jeans and Prada shoes (Alex); Nanette Lepore dress, Calvin Klein blazer, Jeffrey Campbell shoes, Lola and George rings and Mucho Mucho Bueno Bueno key necklace (Carla); Ralph Lauren pants and shirt and Vans shoes (David); Hanna Andersson dress (Noel).

The Taylors describe their “family” style as eclectic and bohemian. Says Carla, “We are a little bit rockabilly and David has a geek chic thing going.” Says Alex, “Carla loves fashion and has a natural instinct.” But when it comes to the fashion plate of the group, Noel takes first prize. “She knows exactly what she wants to wear when she wakes up in the morning,” Carla says. “She combines floral with plaid and somehow pulls it off with her color choices.”

My Object of Affection

Francesco Lafranconi

My most prized possessions are my cocktail and spirits books. I have close to 1,000, and they include Jerry Thomas’ How to Mix Drinks, A Bon Vivant’s Companion (1862), one of the first cocktail recipes book ever written. I do also own the first French treatise (1820) about distillation of grain and potato spirits ever written by a woman. I can’t disclose the source where I find these books; it is too precious. But for the most part I buy them during my travels from antique bookstores and private collectors.
