Tempura Alcachofa at Bar + Bistro

With downtown constantly growing, it was only a matter of time before a unique neighborhood bistro moved in. Enter the aptly named Bar + Bistro, where the menu features tapas, pizzas and an array of Afro-Spanish-influenced entrées. The tempura alcachofa stands out as a dish to try off the tapas menu. Long-stemmed artichoke hearts are battered and flash-fried like traditional tempura. Unlike other fried artichoke hearts that are served with garlic aioli, these are served with a curry-flavored variety, giving them an interesting twist. $6, 107 E.
