A Totally Cool Tote

What happens when a fashion stylist and a cartographer come together to share their passions for travel, maps and design? They create Maptote, simple cotton totes silk-screened with fun schematic maps of various cities featuring neighborhoods, city icons and landmarks. The Las Vegas Tote includes symbols for Strip locales in addition to other points of interest, such as Red Rock Canyon and Hoover Dam. The duo (Rachel Rheingold and Michael Berick) have also added many other products to their line: wine totes, note cards, zip pouches and onesies. $17, Maptote.com.

Genius in a Bottle

The creative mind behind Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, is taking a break from designing clothing to bring his talents back to the world of soft drinks. He’s designed his second collection of Diet Coke bottles, set to hit specialty food stores in June. Lagerfeld is famously a fan of the drink and is rumored to have lost 90 pounds in 2001 by drinking Diet Coke and eating steamed vegetables alone. Yum. The collection of three limited-edition bottles features colorful pink, white and black designs inspired by the new Diet Coke heroines: puppets named Bernadette, Eleanor and Irene.
