Give someone an inch, and he’ll take a mile. Give interior and furniture designer Alison Victoria Gramenos an inch, and she’ll transform it into the most visually stunning and functional space you have ever seen. “I think the world is as pretty as you want it to be,” she says.
It was two years ago that this high-energy designer, who is also the creative director at Silverton hotel-casino, debuted her personally designed furniture, the Avenue Collection, to a Chicago audience. The reception has been phenomenal, and Gramenos is now ready to introduce the line to Las Vegas. “The Chicago market is consistent, but Las Vegas is different and versatile,” she says. “I love this town because it’s so exciting and you never know what you’re going to get.”
What customers will receive after purchasing one of Gramenos’ pieces, whether it is the Picasso-inspired Chi Town Rocker or the Avenue Floor Lamp, is a statement piece designed to give your houseguests something to talk about. “You know when a beautiful woman walks into a room and all eyes are on her?” Gramenos says. “I want my pieces to be like that.”
The Secret Bed is one of her most beloved creations. With sleek and clean lines, the solid walnut frame has finger-touch latches that open to seamless, secret compartments, while the headboard opens to a hidden mirror.
Swept away with the concept of mixing functionality with sex appeal, Gramenos plans to accentuate the playfulness factor in her second collection of furniture, which she is sketching and expects to launch in eight months.
Do not fret that this evolution means the next group will lose its edge. For Gramenos, sexiness has no gender. “Sexy doesn’t have to be feminine or masculine. Sexy encompasses everyone of us.”
