Cars 2 (G)

Talking cars have come a long way since Knight Rider, but even Pixar, animation’s reigning heavyweight, can’t quite make them A-list. In this overstuffed sequel to the 2006 hit, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) and Tow Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) leave Radiator Springs for Tokyo, Italy and England to participate in a World Grand Prix. A James Bond-esque subplot involving espionage is flashy and fun, but seems like overcompensation for relatively unmemorable characters.

‘Tuning’ in to local music

Chad Plummer wants to educate the public about the other scene in Las Vegas. Forget nightclubs and their performances by mainstream pop stars, Plummer is hoping to “showcase musical acts that would normally fall outside the mainstream perception of ‘Vegas entertainment.’” Plummer is using the television show Vegas in Tune as the platform to help support the musical community that “locals know and what to see grow.” He is the senior producer, but the show is primarily created by UNLV journalism and film students.
