The kids are fed up with hiking, you can’t afford another trip to Circus Circus’ Adventuredome and all the public pools are so damn crowded this time of year. Where to take the family unit without breaking the bank? Try the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City. Unlike other train museums, this one features a train that actually runs (four times a day on weekends). The seven-mile trip up Railroad Pass and back in a restored Pullman Coach takes about 60 minutes, and it only costs $10 for adults and $5 for kids 4-11. 600 Yucca St., 486-5933.
