(R) ★★☆☆☆

This action film follows the sexy, vengeful contract killer Cataleya (Zoe Saldana), named after a Colombian orchid, signing her victims with lipstick. After a well-handled prologue gives us Cataleya as a child (Amandla Stenberg) witnessing the assassination of her next of kin by crime boss Don Luis (Beto Benites), we catch up with the beautiful adult Cataleya, now a hit-woman working for her uncle. The action sequences are effective, and Saldana is able to not only exude ruthlessness and sexiness, but also sympathy.

Idiot-Proof Performance

Ever since he broke out in the 1995 Jane Austen-goes-to-the-Valley romp Clueless, earning teen idol status for the somewhat questionable act of kissing his underage onscreen stepsister, Paul Rudd has carved out a niche for himself in Hollywood as the go-to hapless everyman. Most of his roles fall into two categories: the hapless, disarming romantic lead (I Love You, Man, How Do You Know), or the hapless, hammy sidekick (Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Wet Hot American Summer).
