Chateau kicks it old-school

Not content with just one night of early ’90s hip-hop mainstays, Chateau doubled down recently. First up on Oct. 7, the Paris club featured Ice Cube, who, somehow, wasn’t in the middle of shooting a Coors Light commercial or another Friday or Barbershop movie.

Instead, Cube ran through a set of classics, including “Check Yo Self” and “It Was a Good Day.” Meanwhile, speaking of rappers who have questionable judgment when it comes to scripts, LL Cool J took his turn Oct. 8. The NCIS star was backed by Z-Trip when he did “Going Back to Calli” and “Mama Said Knock You Out.” Basically the whole night was like half an hour from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Bring on the Night

When Justin Baulé began DJing, it wasn’t cool. At just 15, he was the youngest member of Minneapolis’ underground house scene. Wide-eyed and impressionable, he dove into the rave world, soaking up all the knowledge and experience the Midwest had to offer. Fast forward about 10 years, when Baulé traveled to the West as an amateur snowboarder, ultimately reviving his passion for the decks when he landed his first Las Vegas residency at the world-(in)famous Drai’s After Hours in Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon.
