Drink. Don’t Drive.

That’s the idea behind one upcoming party that wants you to enjoy yourself responsibly. The Nov. 7 event, hosted by Double Helix Wine & Whiskey Lounge and presented by Women Executives in the Beverage Industry (WEBI) and BarMagic of Las Vegas, is a fundraiser for author and founding WEBI member Meghan Leary, who was recently injured in an alcohol-related accident. Sponsors include Beam Global, William Grant & Sons, Macchu Pisco, DiSaronno, Cheers, 97.1-FM The Point, Dress the Drink, BarSmarts, ÜberBar Tools and mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim. The party will feature a silent auction, complimentary food and specialty cocktails prepared by BarMagic’s Tobin Ellis, Francesco Lafranconi and Patricia Richards, among others. It also marks the kickoff of a new movement supporting safer imbibing and social responsibility within the beverage industry. So, drink up, Buttercup. Just don’t drive. In Town Square, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., no cover but a donation is suggested.

Jim Beam Devil’s Cut Whiskey

By Xania Woodman

The so-called “angel’s share” is the whiskey that evaporates from barrels aging in the rickhouse. So it makes sense that the “devil’s cut” is that which remains trapped in the wood. Through an extraction process, this whiskey is harvested, combined with 6-year-old bourbon, and bottled at 90 proof for a robust new take on Jim Beam. You can try it neat, on the rocks or mixed with cola, but some nights just call for a shot. Just say the devil made you do it. JimBeam.com/devils-cut.
