Drink. Don’t Drive.

That’s the idea behind one upcoming party that wants you to enjoy yourself responsibly. The Nov. 7 event, hosted by Double Helix Wine & Whiskey Lounge and presented by Women Executives in the Beverage Industry (WEBI) and BarMagic of Las Vegas, is a fundraiser for author and founding WEBI member Meghan Leary, who was recently injured in an alcohol-related accident. Sponsors include Beam Global, William Grant & Sons, Macchu Pisco, DiSaronno, Cheers, 97.1-FM The Point, Dress the Drink, BarSmarts, ÜberBar Tools and mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim. The party will feature a silent auction, complimentary food and specialty cocktails prepared by BarMagic’s Tobin Ellis, Francesco Lafranconi and Patricia Richards, among others. It also marks the kickoff of a new movement supporting safer imbibing and social responsibility within the beverage industry. So, drink up, Buttercup. Just don’t drive. In Town Square, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., no cover but a donation is suggested.

Bottles. Burgers. Boom!

By Xania V. Woodman

What this town needs is more hamburger joints. Wait! Before you crumple this page, light it on fire and scream, “Surely you jest, madam!” consider this: Juicy, unique, gourmet burgers crafted by Daniel Boulud Brasserie alum Doug Vega that are stuffed with braised short rib or blue cheese. And what better to pair them with than perfectly sized half-bottles of wine? This is the burger joint, according to Ray Nisi and partners.
