Celebrity chef Mario Batali will be at the Venetian for a complimentary Black Friday cooking demonstration by the outdoor gondolas from 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 25, when he’ll be showing how to make his signature pizzas. After his demo, check out the pizza yourself straight from Batali’s wood-burning oven at his Piazza San Marco restaurant. Silky prosciutto and peppery arugula pair wonderfully atop that beautifully charred crust. $19, in Grand Canal Shoppes at the Venetian, 677-3390.

Bars end up with “secret” cocktails when the news about something utterly delicious but off-menu gets into the hands of just the right crowd. Then comes the tipping point, when everyone knows about it, and then comes the time for a new secret cocktail. Such was the case with the Beckett, a hyper-popular cocktail at the Mandarin Bar (mango nectar, Soho lychee liqueur, lemongrass-infused simple syrup and freshly squeezed lime juice with sparkling wine).
