The Hardest Working Man in Nightlife

Sal Wise

If you were to ask Sal Wise what he does for Angel Management Group, his response would be “everything,” and the director of nightlife marketing wouldn’t be lying. Wise makes sure talent is booked, creative is completed, staff is in line and the night is a success at several AMG venues. In the spring and summer months, he tacks AMG’s pool parties onto his list, which leaves him working seven days a week, seven months straight without a break. Take Memorial Day weekend, for example, which saw Wise managing the day and night events for AMG’s venues, including David Guetta’s F*** Me, I’m Famous at Wet Republic, while handling events with 3OH!3 and Apl.de.Ap from the Black Eyed Peas at Pure. But he won’t complain about it. Instead he just moves from day to night with aplomb, then gets up the next day to do it all over again. It’s because he knows hard work pays off and that’s what has gotten him to where he is today.

The Downtown Cocktail Room’s doors are impossibly un-door-ish. You walk up from the intersection of Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard, happy to join the buzzing downtown camaraderie—the urban revolution taking hold of Las Vegas—and you’re faced with walls of one-way glass and no apparent door handle. For the uninitiated, it makes for an awkward moment. Had this happened to me, and I’m not confirming that it did, the larger metaphor wouldn’t have been lost: Maybe everyone doesn’t fit in here.
