UNLV junior forward Quintrell Thomas will be able to play Friday night when the Rebels host Cal at the Thomas & Mack Center.
Thomas busted out of a month-long slump with a season-high 13 points and seven rebounds in Saturday’s 64-48 blowout of Illinois, but then sat Monday’s tune-up against Louisiana-Monroe back at the Mack while battling turf toe.
According to UNLV coach Dave Rice, Thomas will be a go for the 21st-ranked Rebels (12-2) when they host Cal (10-2) at 2 p.m. in a rare home matinee. The Bears are arguably the top team in the Pac-12 this season, and this is UNLV’s marquee non-conference home game for the season.
After averaging 6.7 points and 5.2 rebounds a game last season, Thomas is averaging 4.5 and 3.3, respectively, as a junior, but appears to now be finding a stronger level of comfort on the offensive end.
