Tinker Tailor Solider Spy

(R) ★★★★☆

This superb adaptation of the John le Carré spy novel revolves around George Smiley (the masterful Gary Oldman). Smiley is a retired British secret agent that’s un-retired by a man named “Control” (John Hurt), who is aware of a mole among his ranks. The supporting spies include Colin Firth, Ciarán Hinds, Toby Jones, Tom Hardy and company. A unique spy thriller more about its narrative pretzels, this is one of the finest achievements of the year.
