So it is that the Miss America pageant, cast adrift from its longtime home in Atlantic City, has found a safe port in the desert. At the 2012 pageant at Planet Hollywood on Jan. 14, it was the turn of Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaepeller, to don the crown, shed the tears and set off on a year traveling the nation and speaking out on behalf of her favorite cause—helping children of incarcerated parents.
