Love Reels ’Em In

Cirque du Soleil was a top draw for celebs in town for CES and other sundry workplace obligations, like those here filming a magic-based comedy.

Actors Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi were both shooting for Burt Wonderstone at Bally’s on Jan. 12. The 2013 flick, helmed by 30 Rock director and Emmy winner Don Scardino, features Carell’s titular Wonderstone as a down-on-his luck magician trying to revive a partnership with Buscemi’s Anton Lovecraft in order to knock Jim Carrey’s Steve Gray off the top of the magician pack.

Buscemi went to check out The Beatles Love on Jan. 8, then went back for a second helping Jan. 12, along with Carell and 13 producers, writers and directors from the movie, including Scardino.

Also at the show that night was couple Rick Fox and Eliza Dushku. Dushku was at CES to host the Entertainment Matters party. Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, who was at the Canon Customer Appreciation Reception, was also at Love and managed not to neither drag it down a morally slippery slope, nor physically destroy it by using science for evil. Well done, Cranston.

DJ Profile

Measure of a Man

No rookie to electronic music, DJ Worthy fell in love with the deep bass sound in the ’90s during the early rave scene while growing up in Washington, D.C. Absorbed in the East Coast music culture, he went from playing drums, bass and guitar in punk-rock bands to become a DJ of genres ranging from hip-hop to techno before finally finding a home in deep house. Now happily settled as a member of San Francisco’s Dirty Bird label, the groove-giving producer makes his Las Vegas debut at the Revolution Lounge in The Mirage on Jan. 21.
