Two UNLV recruiting targets were named McDonald’s All-Americans on Thursday afternoon, as Bishop Gorman’s Shabazz Muhammad and Findlay Prep’s Anthony Bennett were both tapped to play in the March 28 exhibition at the United Center in Chicago.
Muhammad, who is the unanimous top overall recruit in the 2012 class, is considering several schools along with UNLV, including Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA and Kansas. The 6-foot-6 wing will likely make his decision known closer to the start of the spring signing period in April.
Bennett, a 6-foot-8 forward who came to the desert before last season by way of Toronto, is the Pilots’ sixth McDonald’s All-American in the last four seasons, and he’ll be joined in Chicago by Arizona-bound teammate Brandon Ashley. He’ll also be a spring signee, and is currently considering UNLV, Kentucky, Florida, Oregon and Washington.
UNLV signee Katin Reinhardt from Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif., was not selected for the game, but was a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
