After again letting an opportunity to crack the top 10 in both Top 25 polls slip by, UNLV regained some steam in the national rankings this week.
Following two blowout home wins over Boise State and Air Force, the Rebels (24-6 overall, 8-4 Mountain West) jumped from No. 20 in the ESPN/USA Today coaches poll and No. 21 in the Associated Press poll to No. 17 in both Top 25 listings.
This is UNLV’s 12th week in the polls this season and its 11th in a row. It’s the program’s most weeks in the Top 25 rankings in a single season since the 1992-93 campaign.
Meanwhile, San Diego State (22-6, 8-4) checks in at No. 21 in the AP poll and No. 23 in the coaches poll.
New Mexico (22-6, 8-4) saw its seven-game win streak snapped with stunning road losses at Colorado State and TCU last week, and in turn, its stay in the polls was limited to just one week.
