EDC releases lineup for Vegas festival

Electric Daisy Carnival has released a lineup for the June 8-10 festival at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Plenty of familiar faces are on the bill, including Afrojack, Avicii, Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Kaskade and Steve Aoki. Several big-ticket names are still out in the ether, though. No word yet on Skrillex or the ubiquitous LMFAO—which isn’t a stretch, given Will.i.am’s spot on the bill. Nor has there been any confirmation yet on one big fi5h you’d expect to see: Deadmau5.

Penn & Teller got a synergistic jump on upcoming Planet Hollywood headliner Cee Lo Green by going on The Voice to play mentor to his team and teach them about showmanship. They also got a visit at the Rio from Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg on April 7. Which we assume means he’s researching a role as a socially awkward magician.

Country music, now with kabuki makeup and pyrotechnics

The 47th annnual Academy of Country Music Awards on April 1 at MGM Grand Garden Arena is a celebration of all things country music. The pedal-steel guitars! The forlorn lyrics! “Detroit Rock City” and “Rock and Roll All Nite!” KISS, not even with the decency to come wearing official KISS-branded 10-gallon hats, rolled up to the ACMAs in a monster truck, and because genres are dead, the entire musical landscape is one massive, beige pop stew, dogs and cats are living together and nothing means anything anymore.
