Reliving an Enterprising Concept

We’ve never been big fans of the Fremont Street Experience. So learning that downtown Las Vegas could have instead become home to a full-scale USS Enterprise makes us want to set our phasers to kill. It seems that entertainment designer Gary Goddard submitted plans for the Star Trek-themed attraction in 1992, when city officials were trying to figure out how to revitalize downtown—and the concept was approved. However, Paramount Pictures President Stanley Jaffe shot down the idea because he was concerned it would become an out-of-this-world failure. Goddard shares all the details on his blog as he recounts the experience.
