Vegas Uncork’d is covered by Vegas Seven’s estimable Xania Woodman, so here we’ll just note that the wine-lovers’ super event starts today, is going on at Strip properties and downtown, lasts through Sunday, and features more wine and cocktail tasting than your liver will stand for. See VegasUncorked.com for schedule.

Elvis impersonators run the gamut from drunks in dirty tracksuits to people who make a living aping The King. Frankly we’ve seen enough of them all, but understand that some folks still find a semi-slurred “thank you very much” thrilling. For them we note that the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest runs from 8 to midnight tonight at the Fremont Street Experience and continues tomorrow night. But we’ll be at the Hard Rock from 6:30-10 p.m. for UNLV’s Rock and Brew fest. One hundred beers or 100 Elvises? No contest. BrewUNLV.com.

You start in hell, run through a burning ring of fire, go up the stairway to heaven and down the demon’s ditch, through the web of lies and wind up in the Beer Garden of Eden. Finally, an event that gets us. It’s the Devil Dash 5K, and it’s going on in Bootleg Canyon near Boulder City from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. DevilDash.com for info and registration.

Can mental illness be entertaining? We suppose that depends on whether you’re experiencing it or watching the theater troupe 7 Fingers interpret its effects in the stage show Psy. Insomnia, amnesia, addiction and agoraphobia are all fodder for these acrobatic Canadians. 7:30 p.m., The Smith Center, $24-$59, TheSmithCenter.com.

Armed Forces Day, a celebration of all branches of the service, isn’t until Saturday. The Palazzo is getting a head start this year by saluting wounded vets from Texas military hospitals. The Palazzo is hosting the vets for a weekend in Las Vegas; once they land at McCarran, they’ll receive a police escort to the hotel, where they’ll be welcomed in a public ceremony at 11 a.m.
