EDMbiz Is Ready to School You

The annual pilgrimage to Miami for Winter Music Conference might be a thing of the past. Well, minus the excuse to get down on some sandy shores. But if you’re all about the business of electronic music, add the inaugural EDMbiz conference taking place June 5-7 at the Cosmopolitan to your itinerary.

The conference, presented by L.A.-based Insomniac—the people who put on Electric Daisy Carnival—will focus on growing and maintaining the relevance of electronic-dance music and culture. Highlights that piqued our interest include “What Happens in Vegas …,” a look at the electronic-dance-music explosion in our city; “Creating the Experience: The Ascendance of the Music Festival”; and “Circuit Breakers: Breaking Artists and Sustaining Careers in EDM.”

Sharing their insider knowledge at a variety of sessions are DJ/producers Kaskade, Steve Angello, Richie Hawtin, Above & Beyond’s Jono Grant and Tony McGuinness, plus Insomniac CEO and founder Pasquale Rotella and even Joel Zimmerman—the one from William Morris, though, not Deadmau5. Numerous other industry leaders in public relations, artist management and label representation will also be on hand, and former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman will give the opening remarks.

As an extra treat for up-and-coming DJ/producers, the Discovery Project was launched in advance of the conference, giving unknown spinners the chance to submit their mixes to earn a spot at EDC, plus an artist and guest pass, $500, conference registration and consideration as the first DJ/producer signed to Insomniac’s new management company and music marketing platform.

And since no music conference would be complete without a plethora of parties, EDMbiz events will take place at Tao, Lavo, Marquee and the Bassrush Massive at the Orleans Arena. Get complete details on the conference, registration and parties at EDMbiz.com.
