Construction is under way for Commonwealth’s September opening on the corner of East Fremont Street and Sixth Street, but the cocktail bar’s owners already have another announcement to make. Park On Fremont, a modern bar and urban beer garden, is slated to open just a month later at 506 E. Fremont in the former footprint of Maharaja Hookah Café. Combined, the projects bring the bar count on that block of the Fremont East entertainment district to nine, and give this al fresco-deprived town an additional two downtown drinking establishments with unique outdoor seating. Custom cocktails and a full gastropub menu will join a hefty beer program in a park-like setting that places shabby-chic furniture, antique-style lampposts and a communal table in the shade of live oaks and extensive trellising. Partners in the project include Vegas Seven publishers Ryan Doherty and Justin Weniger, local businessman Michael Parks and Electric Daisy Carnival founder Pasquale Rotella.
