The Springs Preserve is what this town was before we built malls on top of it: a verdant oasis, home to a surprising variety of birds and flowering plants. To sit in its gardens and walk its trails is an act of rebellion against traffic and asphalt; the tranquility is nearly palpable. And you can buy admission to it—as well as the two museums on property—for an entire year for just $25. For those times when the city gets on top of you and escape from the city limits simply isn’t possible, that $25 is one smart, high-yield investment. 333 S. Valley View Blvd., SpringsPreserve.org.

And that’s just the top of an eclectic bill that features more than 70 acts, along with comedy, interactive art installations, a group art exhibit featuring the work of Mark Ryden, Tara McPherson and Shepard Fairey and much more.
