The Beat Coffeehouse & Records is the downtown mother ship of culture and progress. Grab a seat and a cup of locally roasted coffee, and keep your ears and eyes peeled for Zapp-sters, local musicians, paint-splattered artists and mumbling vagrants—or are they just misunderstood geniuses? Within minutes you’ll have an invitation to a sweet gallery opening, a lead on a great place to get inked, possibly an up-cycled bicycle and some new tunes for the ’Pod. Oh, and the coffee’s darn good, too. 520 E. Fremont St., 385-2328, TheBeatLV.com.
