Minaj brought her sexy, “girl power” energy to the Las Vegas stop of her My Pink Friday world tour. The bass-heavy “Did it on ‘Em” and “I Am Your Leader” amped up the theater, and when Minaj dove into her latest single, “Beez in the Trap,” the crowd recited the lyrics for her. Touring rap star 2 Chainz shocked the audience by joining Minaj to perform his verse on the song.
After one of three wardrobe changes, Minaj rhymed off of Big Sean’s “Dance (A$$) remix” while her six backup dancers showed off their limber skills. Minaj slowed it down for what she called the “male-bashing part of the show,” and passionately belted out “Save Me” and “Marilyn Monroe” before changing clothes (and wigs) to raise the energy back up.
Her guest verses on Ludacris’ “My Chick Bad” and Trey Songz’ “Bottom’s Up remix” were met with approval, but it was her commentary on Drake’s “Make Me Proud” that became the show’s biggest highlight. During the song, Minaj encouraged the young ladies in the crowd to keep striving because “when you earn something, no one can ever take it from you.” ★★★☆☆
