Daily Bet: A’s (-135) at Indians

Too bad they can’t all be as easy as last night’s underdog winner on the red-hot Rockies, who scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in an 8-4 rout of the slumping Dodgers. Tonight, sportsbooks around town are giving away money once again. Here’s why I make that statement:

The A’s are 71-57 overall; they’ve won 10 of their last 12 (including four in a row); and during this dozen-game stretch, they’ve beaten the Indians five straight times (winning the last three in a row by a combined score of 17-0). In fact, Oakland has taken six straight meetings in this rivalry, with the cumulative score being A’s 36, Indians 10. Meanwhile, Cleveland is 55-74 overall, has dropped three in a row, 12 of its last 13, and since July 19, the Indians are 8-30!

What about tonight’s starting pitching matchup? Glad you asked. Oakland is going with lefty Travis Blackley, who is 4-3 with a 3.52 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. Solid, but not spectacular numbers… until you compare them against those from Cleveland rookie Corey Kluber. In five starts, Kluber is 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. Not only are the Tribe are winless in those five contests, they’ve been outscored 39-18 (including an 8-5 loss in Oakland on Aug. 18). And in Kluber’s three home starts, Cleveland has scored seven runs … and allowed 24.

Like I said … free money!
