Mugsy & Moxie’s Bully Couture

Where: The Market LV at Tivoli Village, 808-9339.

The details: After receiving her English bulldog, Mugsy, as a gift in 2006, certified dog trainer and Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising graduate Dee Mounts became frustrated with the lack of quality clothing available to outfit the beloved pup. With a background in design, Mounts launched Bo & DeeMo—a line of canine clothing—with a fellow bully enthusiast in 2007. The collection found success with their studded collars and leashes; punk-inspired dresses and corset stitched tank tops with designs created by local tattoo artist Twister. Looking to open a storefront, co-owners Mounts and her husband, Kevin, found the right place in the Market LV, and opened their doors June 30. The boutique carries accessories for all breeds and sells locally crafted dog bowls and beds displaying the Union Jack in homage to their favorite breed.

Go there if … you love to shop with your precious pooch, and will only dress him in top-of-the-line doggie threads.

Don’t leave the store without … the Bully Beaters T-Shirt ($18-$20), the all-breed backpack harness ($36) or the Swarovski crystal-studded collar in cobalt blue ($45-$79). Most items can be customized for your one-of-a-kind pet.

My Object of Affection

Michael Waters, 34

“My most prized possession is a 24-karat gold necklace with two diamond crosses that originally belonged to my father. My parents gave it to me as a gift when I opened Phase 1 Sports, a sports-training center. They said one cross was to protect me and the other was to grant me success in both my business and personal lives. I’ve worn it every day since they gave it to me, and 10 years later, Phase 1 Sports is doing better than ever. It’s a constant reminder of the journey I am on, and the belief that God is always in control.”
