Fall daylife keeps the party going year-round

Bye-bye, beachwear; hello, brunch and bottles. Yes, it’s coming on fall, when natural tans fade and party pools call it quits for the season. If you’re looking for a final splash, Palms Pool & Bungalows will close in early October, Beachlife at Hard Rock Hotel wraps up its last weekend Oct. 5-8, Marquee Dayclub and Encore Beach Club each close Oct. 7, and Tao Beach closes Nov. 4.

Thankfully, two daytime events are returning to fill the void.

First up, Oct. 13 marks the return of Lavo Brunch at the Palazzo. Lavo’s daytime party brunch originated in its New York City location, and found success last year during it’s first Las Vegas incarnation. The party combines food from the Lavo kitchen, copious amounts of champagne and music courtesy of resident DJ Lema. “The new surprises we have in store will make this brunch season that much more over the top for our guests,” Tao Group co-owner Jason Strauss says.

Also celebrating its second season is daytime debauchery originator GBDC (Ghostbar Day Club) on Oct. 20. “When we created GBDC, we wanted to create a nightlife feel during the day,” says Bronson Olimpieri, co-general manager and vice president of N9NE Group. “Right away [patrons are] going to see our go-go dancers on top of the bar, beer bongs, confetti, piñatas, and costumes,” adds Rachel Wenman, senior manager of brand marketing. Attendees are strongly encouraged to get into the spirit and channel Halloween every week. Plus, if resident DJs including Sex Panther and Mark Stylz keep the party rocking, it’ll go all night long. Of course, you’ll need to fortify yourself for all this day-drinking; nibbles will also be available. “[GBDC] is for people who love that party lifestyle all year round,” Olimpieri says, “and we’re gonna take what we did last year and beef it up a bit.”

This could be Tara Brooks’ year. The gigs are only getting bigger and better, she’s shopping a few original productions to labels, and she’s just signed to be represented by S.K.A.M. Artists, one of the most recognized companies in the DJ scene. Vegas Seven got a glimpse into the world according to Tara in advance of her Sept. 9 set at Marquee Dayclub and Sept. 10 tag-team set with DJ Stellar in Marquee’s Boom Box Room.
