Pink Pastries, Grand Café

Pink is October’s signature color, thanks to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the third year in a row, Station Casinos presents “Project Pink,” its monthlong initiative to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. One sweet way to participate is at each Station property’s Grand Café, where treats such as macaroons, cookies, caramel apples and cheesecake lollipops all sport the familiar pink ribbon, and 50 percent of the proceeds go to breast-cancer research.

Going into my trip to Thailand in March, I never imagined how many meals would be spent crouching over chipped bowls of pad thai from food carts parked alongside rowdy, smog-filled intersections. The more strands I slurped down, the more I realized that it did not matter where I ate—only that it tasted good. Sharing a similar propensity for Thai street food is Daniel Coughlin.
