Rain nightclub closes after 11 years

We live in a desert, so how long did you think Rain could last, anyway? The 11-year-old N9NE Group nightclub at the Palms will be ending its run Oct. 28 (aside from two nights New Year’s Eve weekend) before renovations and rebranding run their course early in 2013.

If we learned nothing from Lil Wayne’s June 20 deposition video that made the rounds on the Internet, it’s that Lil Wayne does whatever the hell Lil Wayne wants to do. And apparently what Lil Wayne wants to do is shoot a video with Limp Bizkit front man Fred Durst. For some reason. The two of them were filming around town Oct. 18, and Durst turned up at Aria’s Deuce Lounge afterward to hang out.

Internet sensation/living cartoon character Psy closed out the season at Rehab on Oct. 21 with a healthy dose of “Gangnam Style.” Because he needs to collect that reported $60,000 per appearance. Invisible horses aren’t going to feed themselves invisible oats.

DJ Mag put out its Top 100 DJs of 2012 ranking, topped by Marquee resident Armin van Buuren. The other 99 are expected to divvy up residencies between XS and Marquee in 2013.

Many a clubber shed a tear when the beloved Body English nightclub at the Hard Rock Hotel held its closing party on New Year’s Eve as the final minutes of 2009 ticked away. The club’s $250,000 chandelier was supposedly awarded to whomever spent the most that night, and rumors soon followed that the space would be transformed into an afterhours spot. Well, the chandelier is still there and so is the club.
