With the early signing period opening Nov. 14, expect recruiting news (and rumors) to start pouring in. UNLV already has three players committed for the Class of 2013, but expect them to add at least one more prospect to that group before all is said and done.
Isaac Hamilton, a 6-foot-5 combo guard from St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.), made headlines last week by taking a visit to UCLA. He had previously included UNLV, San Diego State, Washington, UTEP and Baylor in his final five, but the addition of UCLA got people talking.
Hamilton recently postponed a scheduled visit to Washington, leading many recruitniks to speculate that his decision would come down to UNLV or San Diego State. The addition of UCLA could complicate things, possibly enough to push Hamilton’s decision back to the regular signing period in April.
In 2014 news, small forward Stanley Johnson of Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) cut his list to 15 schools today, and UNLV was listed. Johnson also has San Diego State and UCLA among the 15. He has expressed interest in UNLV in the past, though it’s very early in the process and Johnson isn’t expected to make a decision until this summer at the earliest.
