Seven Nights

Your city after dark

Thu 6

Frustrated that you can’t create cocktails more complicated than a vodka-cranberry? Milagro Tequila has partnered with Tao for a multi-course dining and cocktail pairing led by tequila ambassador Gaston Martinez. As part of the evening you’ll learn how to re-create the featured drinks at home. All guests receive a goodie bag with a shaker, recipe book and cocktail instructions so you don’t have take notes. Participants also receive complimentary admission to Tao Nightclub afterward. Cost is $75 per person, and a limited number of seats are available. Visit to make reservations. (In the Venetian, 7 p.m.)

Fri 7

First Friday time! The holiday spirit will be in the air downtown with “snow,” carriage rides and carolers. But over at Cowtown Guitars, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum holds a debut party for the Hold Fast documentary films highlighting three local businesses: Pick Your Poison Bake Shop, Cowtown Guitars and Studio 21 Tattoo. Complimentary cocktails, cupcakes and live music round out the evening. (1009 S. Main St., 6 p.m.,

Sat 8

Technically, the first dance remix album I owned was Paula Abdul’s Shut Up and Dance: The Dance Mixes, which included the “1990 Medley Mix” from DJ/producer Chris Cox, whose first remix release the year prior was Abdul’s hit “Opposites Attract.” Needless to say, Cox has a knack for remixing artists ranging from divas to dirty rockers and has amassed a catalog of more than 400 productions, more than 40 Billboard No. 1 dance club hits, a Grammy nomination and two IDMA Awards. Whew! Catch him rocking the dance floor at Gallery. (In Planet Hollywood, 10:30 p.m., Expect a lot of tourists snapping pics for the folks back home as a mob of drunk Santas stumble up and down Fremont Street singing carols as loudly and off-key as possible. Yes, the Santa Rampage is back, celebrating 10 years of donning festive costumes and spreading general tipsy merriment. (8 p.m., And either before or after you marinate your liver in liquor, check out the latest Vegas StrEats and a food truck-palooza. (Jackie Gaughan Plaza at El Cortez, 6 p.m., Wait, there’s one more place you should stop downtown while the Santas are a-stumbling: LVCS welcomes the Bass Garden party, featuring DJs Bare, Fei-Fei, Dani Deahl, Captain Panic, Ashtrobot and Frenetic. (428 Fremont St., 10 p.m.,

Sun 9

Downtown seems to be where it’s at this weekend. The Night Owls Tour stops by Insert Coin(s), featuring sets from Flinch, AC Slater and Harvard Bass, plus an opening set from Las Vegas’ own HavocNdeeD. Get tickets in advance at for $10. (512 E. Fremont St., 10 p.m.,

Mon 10

Keep kicking it around downtown for Modified Mondays at Vanguard Lounge. Expect things to get bass-y with some downtempo, hip-hop, old-school dirty rap and trap music courtesy of FreshmodeKore, Rick Remixx and The Snarks. But head’s up, according to the Facebook event page you better bring $10 for a cover and there’s “no exceptions.” Hmmm, not sure how well that’s going to work for local DJs spinning downtown on a Monday, but good luck with that. Might be a good idea to hit them up in advance to get on the guest list via, since the fan page says there’s no cover. (516 E. Fremont St., 10 p.m.,

Tue 11

Shameless vote-begging begins now: In hopes you’re reading this before the actual party. Jack Colton’s 2012 Nightlife Entertainment Awards will pack Pure with the who’s who of the Las Vegas party scene vying for accolades, including yours truly. If you could take a moment and go to and fire off a couple votes for Senior Editor Xania Woodman and me, nightlife writer Deanna Rilling, that’d be super rad! Other accolades include the hunt for favorite VIP host, Life of the Party, Favorite Main-Room DJ, Favorite Photographer, the best club and more. DJ Shift spins for the festivities. (In Caesars Palace, 10 p.m.,

Wed 12

Drumroll please … The moment downtowners have been anticipating is finally here. Commonwealth celebrates its official grand opening. In Commonwealth fashion, the majority of the evening will be a surprise, but we can confirm Adam 12 (also known as Obama’s official DJ and part of She Wants Revenge) will spin along with VanVille. Stop by for a craft cocktail or slip into the attached Laundry Room speakeasy … if you can figure out how. (525 E. Fremont St. time 6 p.m., Congratulations to anyone getting married today with the cool 12/12/12 date that hopefully makes it easier for guys to remember their anniversaries. In honor of the large number of folks expected to get hitched today, LAX is throwing a Tie the Knot Party with complimentary admission and an open vodka bar until midnight for all wedding parties. (In Luxor, 10 p.m.,
