SHe Ditches Nightclub

photo-feb-02-2-01-10-pm.jpgWell, that was fun while it lasted.

Following a New Year’s Eve opening for the nightclub portion of SHe by Morton’s at Crystals, the club suddenly shuttered on February 21. It will be used as a special-events space moving forward, while the restaurant of the same name continues operations downstairs.

It’s the third venture to close at that two-level spot in the last two years. Eva Longoria opened an outpost of her Beso steakhouse downstairs in December 2009, with Eve Nightclub taking the top floor. Eve succumbed in July 2011, while Beso made it another year, closing in August 2012 after Tilman Fertitta bought out Beso from bankruptcy, keeping Longoria on as a minority owner.

It’s easy to write it off as a difficult location or a saturated market or just the whims of a fickle economy, but we prefer to think that they built the club on a very small, specific Native American burial ground.
