“My most prized possessions are a hat and basketball signed by the 1990 UNLV men’s basketball national championship team. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, and when I was 6 years old, I would wait outside the tunnel after games for players and ask them to sign my hat. By the end of the season I had the entire team’s autograph. That year my family traveled to the Final Four games in Denver, and I collected the basketball signatures during a shootaround. The 1990 squad is considered one of the best teams in college history, and it’s something my generation will always reminisce about. Without the Shark [coach Jerry Tarkanian], Vegas wouldn’t be the same place.”
