Getting Down with a Dorito-Eating Fat Cat

“Gato is not overweight; he’s big boned,” say roommates Rosie Abrams and Carrie Giverson of their most prized possession: a 28-pound Maine Coon cat. Born in Ohio under Abrams parents’ bed, this thickset feline is known to open doors, sip champagne and enjoy listening to rap music.

“Gato has been with me since the day he was born. He’s basically like my child,” Abrams says of her Doritos-loving cat. “He’s been with me through many of the most significant times in my life, including traveling with me across the country. He’s always comforting, makes me laugh, is a great cuddler and never talks back, which makes him the perfect guy!”

“Even if I’m having a bad day,” Giverson adds, “he will do something silly and I can’t help but laugh.”

Sometimes the object of affection gives as good as it gets.
