If Hakkasan’s first weekend was for the EDM fans, its second weekend turned up the celebrity juice-o-meter (which is totally a thing they keep in the basement at E! headquarters) over the course of its official grand opening.
April 27 saw Calvin Harris headline—sharing the booth with Tiësto for a few tracks—for a crowd that included Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart, Vanessa Hudgens and boyfriend Austin Butler, Glee’s Mark Salling, Dancing With the Stars’ Cheryl Burke and Smallville’s Tom Welling.
And then there was Paris Hilton. Because there’s always Paris Hilton.
She turned up with current plaything River Viiperi, who won the award for “Accessory That Makes One Look Most Like a Third-Tier Hip-Hop Hypeman and/or ’80s Wrestling Valet” when he sported a black ball cap with “PARIS” on it in giant block letters.
Pharell Williams celebrated his 40th birthday at the Ling Ling Club, while J-Lo went front-and-center with her table selection, so as to best make herself available to the myriad Maid in Manhattan fans at the club. Hudgens and Butler, meanwhile, alternated between dancing and make-out sessions.
The night before, Deadmau5 returned to the club a week after his fans ran into some static at the doors. On April 18, he tweeted, “Fixed. If you’re planning on bringing a mau5head to the @HakkasanLV show(s) you’re very much welcome. Fans before bottle poppers.” Well, of course, the Mau5head fans aren’t the ones popping bottles. Have you ever tried to chug Grey Goose through one of those things?
EDM’s Most Fabulous Fest
Krave Massive is more than a little behind schedule, but you can still “feel the revolution” in an LGBT kinda way this Memorial Day weekend. The Matinée Las Vegas Festival takes over with hot boys for days. Initially launching in Ibiza more than 15 years ago, then evolving into events in Barcelona and during Pride in New York, Matinée returns to Las Vegas for the third year at host hotel Rumor with pool parties and culminates with a main event at Vanity nightclub. Teaming up with Absinthe to integrate its acts into the festivities (hopefully there’ll be another ice sculpture of the Gazillionaire with a phallic shot luge), events at Share and Rain nightclubs are also on the docket with dance music galore. Weekend passes start at $99, and complimentary shuttle services from Rumor are included for hotel guests. Visit MatineeVegas.com for complete details and lineup. – Deanna Rilling

Nobu Hotel officially threw open the gates to the Palace that Sushi Built on April 28 with, of course, chef Nobu Matsuhisa and the muscle of the operation, Robert De Niro. Ed Sheeran performed poolside for the opening that also drew Holly Madison, Matt Goss, Taylor Hicks, Randi Zuckerberg, Coco Austin and International Man of Moderate Mystery, David Blaine. … Mike Tyson revealed in a recent interview what we can only believe is the greatest reason for breaking up with someone in the history of people breaking up with each other: Because she killed, cooked and ate one of the pigeons he raised. Though this story would be 1,000 percent more hilarious if Tyson raised ostriches. … Got plans for June 21-23? No? Well, you still don’t.
