Dishing: Choked Pig Pizza, Slice of Vegas

The pizza shop in the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay just got creative with its latest menu additions. The Choked Pig piqued our interest with its curious name alone, but kept our attention with its ingredients. The pie is topped with pesto aioli, mozzarella cheese, bacon and a mix of artichokes (oh, we get it now!). Chopped fresh basil and whiskey sour cream (not to be confused with a cream that tastes like a whiskey sour) highlight the earthy flavors. 12-inch $19, 18-inch $30, in the Shoppes at Mandalay Bay, 632-6470, SliceOfVegasPizza.com.

Dishing: Pappardelle with Veal Ragu, Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse

This Detroit transplant found its home, fittingly enough Downtown at The D, bringing with it classic Italian fare and an old-school dining sensibility. The fresh, house-made ribbons of pappardelle pasta are a great anchor for the rich, velvety ragu of veal, tomatoes and mushrooms. Sharp asiago cheese on top punctuates the dish. $28, in The D, 388-2220, TheD.com.
