Guy Fieri is a known glutton?watch him gnaw on outboard-moter-size burgers on his Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives?but lately it just feels like he?s a glutton for punishment. With the sting still fresh from the now-famous beatdown his Times Square joint, Guy?s American Kitchen & Bar, received at the pen of New York Times food critic Pete Wells (?As Not Seen on TV,? Nov. 13, 2012), Fieri did what any chef whose entire brand had just been publicly excoriated would do: He expanded! The UNLV graduate turns his attention back to Las Vegas this year with plans to open an as-yet-unnamed restaurant at the Quad in late 2013. ?I remember the beginning of the food revolution in Las Vegas, in the early ?90s as a college student,? Fieri says, ?and now I am finally opening my very own restaurant right in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip. I am stoked.? Here?s hoping the Donkey Sauce king sticks to his Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives model in the kitchen and just watches.
