Kendra Conquers Acrophobia During Bachelorette Party

kendragossip.jpgBachelorette parties: They’re not just for sipping sugary cocktails out of penis-shaped straws anymore. (OK, bachelorette parties are still mostly for that, but bear with us here.)

Tao threw the second annual World’s Largest Bachelorette Party, July 19-21, with Kendra Wilkinson-Baskett and Gretchen Rossi hosting the affair.

Wilkinson doled out some useful advice to the brides-to-be on the first day of the party at Tao Beach, telling them that the secret to wedded bliss was to “satisfy your man.” To be fair, in our case that advice means, “Learn how to make a really good Manhattan,” but that little pearl of wisdom could only be better if she added, “and would it kill you to make a sandwich for him every now and again?”

Later that night, Wilkinson brought her apparently satisfied husband, Hank Baskett, to Tao, along with her mother and brother to film for her WE series Kendra on Top. She made her grand entrance to the club riding the bottle fairy’s zipline despite a fear of heights. Because if there’s one thing clubbing can accomplish, it’s conquering one’s fears. Especially at Haze’s new Spiders, Snakes and Public Speaking party.

Bingo Players’ Paul Bäumer Diagnosed With Cancer

Health problems have sidelined one half of AMG resident DJ duo Bingo Players, Paul Bäumer, for several weeks. In a statement released last week, Bäumer revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer, though the specific type wasn’t revealed. Vegas Seven first learned that the charismatic Hakkasan and Wet Republic resident was ill when we received a call from his representative asking if we could postpone an interview with the duo that was scheduled to occur at Coachella. There, his partner, Maarten Hoogstraten, performed solo as he has subsequently done at several other shows. In an open letter to his friends and fans Bäumer shared the following:

“As some of you may know, I have been in the hospital over the past few weeks, and I have not been at some of the recent shows while seeking medical treatment. I now have the results back and I wanted to let you know that I have been diagnosed with cancer. … From the beginning, Bingo Players has been about me and Maarten sharing the music that we love, both through our records and with you at shows. I will continue to be actively involved in all areas of Bingo Players and Hysteria Records with Maarten.”

On a personal note, when we later sat down with the Bingo Players to discuss their label, new music and upcoming projects they couldn’t have been nicer or more down to earth. We certainly wish Bäumer well and his presence here will be missed.

All shows will continue as scheduled with Hoogstraten, though the Bingo Players don’t have any dates scheduled at Hakkasan through the end of August.

Another one for the road

Rock of Ages got the coveted “MTV VJs from 30 years ago” bump July 20 when Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood, Alan Hunter and Mark Goodman were at the show to meet fans and promote their book, The Unplugged Adventures of MTV’s First Wave. … If and when Britney Spears brings her show to Planet Hollywood, it will come with a “cool, hip, club-like” vibe, according to reports from someone in Spears’ camp. Except for the part where nothing that’s ever been self-described as “cool” and “hip” has ever actually been cool and hip. … Ryan Cabrera and Ryan Cabrera’s hair celebrated their 31st birthday at 1 Oak on July 19. He actually wore a ball cap to the club, which is his version of putting on glasses before work at the Daily Planet and becoming completely unrecognizable.
