Tick Segerblom is a fourth-generation state legislator, and he showed that political maneuvering is in his genes. The state senator pushed through legislation for votes on two vital constitutional amendments: to repeal the tax cap the mining industry uses to escape responsibility, and to repeal the state’s ban on gay marriage. He drove through rules and regulations for medical marijuana dispensaries. He also pushed forward discussion on the need for annual legislative sessions; nothing changed, but, like Sisyphus, he’s still pushing that rock up the mountain. The previous generations would be proud—especially that a “liberal” legislator took so many stands that Nevada’s supposed libertarians should support.
